This week’s posting will be brief; we are looking forward to 2022 and hope it brings success to all of our participants. As it does even during holiday weeks, The American Association of Railroads (AAR) last week posted the most recent week’s freight rail traffic – in this case for the week ending December 25th.

We see many of the trends we reported on last week as continuing; except for one notable change. Last week, AAR reported that intermodal traffic was down 6.9% for the prior week. In this latest report, a week later, they reported intermodal traffic in the U.S. was down just .4%! This is very good news. Hoping this is a sign of the trends to come. We’ll be reporting on it. Thanks and the best of the new year to all.
